Assessment Criteria

At RITA Africa, we employ a holistic approach to assess candidates' suitability for admission into our programs. Our assessment criteria encompass a range of factors that reflect candidates' academic qualifications, professional experience, skills, and personal attributes. The following criteria are considered during the admission process:

1. Academic Background:

  • We consider candidates’ educational background as part of a broader profile review. There are no strict academic or degree requirements. Prior education, certifications, or training help us understand a candidate’s learning foundation but do not determine eligibility on their own.

2. Work Experience & Exposure:

  • We consider any form of experience, including internships, freelance work, personal projects, volunteer work, bootcamps, or self-directed learning. Prior professional experience is not required but may help us understand a candidate’s exposure to the field.

3. Skills and Aptitude:

  • We assess candidates’ basic digital literacy, learning aptitude, and problem-solving approach. Prior technical skills are not required; readiness to learn and the ability to follow structured training are more important.

4. Personal Attributes:

  • Motivation and Commitment: We look for candidates who demonstrate a strong motivation to learn, grow, and succeed in the program, as well as a commitment to completing the program requirements.

  • Teamwork and Collaboration: We assess candidates' ability to work effectively in teams, collaborate with peers, and contribute positively to a collaborative learning environment.

  • Adaptability and Resilience: We evaluate candidates' adaptability to change, resilience in the face of challenges, and willingness to embrace new experiences and perspectives.

5. Interaction & Readiness Review:

  • We assess candidates’ clarity of goals, communication, and readiness during the welcome interview to ensure the program is a good mutual fit.

Our assessment criteria are designed to identify candidates who demonstrate the potential to thrive in our programs and make meaningful contributions to the tech industry. We value diversity, inclusion, and equity in our admissions process, and we strive to create a learning community that reflects a wide range of backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences.

Meeting the assessment criteria does not guarantee admission, as cohort capacity and program readiness are also considered.
